University Autónoma de Tamaulipas expands regional programs and industry ties

Rector Dámaso Anaya Alvarado is steering the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT) to align its academic offerings with the needs of the regional economy. New curricula focus on sectors such as customs and logistics in Nuevo Laredo, energy production, port activities, and advanced fields like artificial intelligence and data platforms, aiming to reduce graduate under‑employment.

The university has also launched Regional Knowledge Transfer Units (URTC) in the municipalities of González, Jiménez, San Fernando and Tula. These centers provide online high‑school courses, bachelor's degrees in graphic design, education technology, renewable energy, data science and other fields, as well as a master's in educational innovation. Equipped with smart screens, computers and internet access, the URTCs receive municipal government support and offer personalized faculty guidance to broaden access to higher education across Tamaulipas.
