University of Aden implements first standardized medical assessment
The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Aden has implemented its first standardized assessment for fourth-year medical students. This academic initiative aims to measure student achievement, evaluate learning outcomes, and enhance the quality of medical education through data-driven improvements.
The assessment involved 242 students divided into four examination groups. The evaluation utilized a dual-track system: an electronic exam featuring multiple-choice questions (MCQs) to measure rapid comprehension, and a written exam using diagnostic slides. The examinations were conducted in morning and evening sessions at the Ibn Sina hall and equipped electronic laboratories.
Led by Dean Dr. Abdul Hakim Omar Al-Tamimi, the process included oversight from the Vice Dean for Graduate Studies, the head of the examination committee, and the quality and academic development unit. The faculty intends to use the resulting data to identify academic strengths and weaknesses, allowing for continuous curriculum updates and the production of highly competent medical graduates.
