University of Arizona fraternity suspended over hazing allegations
The Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity at the University of Arizona has been suspended following allegations of severe hazing rituals. University officials informed the organization that all activities and new member enrollments are suspended while an investigation into violations of the student code of conduct proceeds.
A letter from the dean of students to the fraternity president stated that the organization “presents a substantial risk to members of the university community.” The allegations include forcing new members to consume live goldfish and large quantities of alcohol. Additionally, recruits were reportedly subjected to “screaming, degradation, and threats from active members” during the fall 2025 semester.
This incident follows other recent hazing-related events at various U.S. university campuses, including a recent investigation involving the Alpha Epsilon Pi organization at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
