University of Belgrade reports half of its faculties with vacant seats after first enrollment round

The University of Belgrade completed its first enrollment round for the 2026/2027 academic year. Out of 31 faculties, 15 still have vacant budget places, meaning roughly half of the institution’s capacity remains unfilled.

The largest numbers of unfilled seats are at the Faculty of Philology (622 of 1,393 places), Faculty of Agriculture (533 of 790), Faculty of Mining‑Geological (214 of 428) and Faculty of Geography (141 of 250). Other faculties with notable gaps include Mathematics (114 of 435), Forestry (172 of 300) and Physical Chemistry (59 of 287).

Conversely, competition is strongest at the Faculty of Economics (1,924 applicants for 1,320 places), Faculty of Organizational Sciences (1,767 for 1,100), Faculty of Medicine (1,089 for 660), Faculty of Electrical Engineering (1,045 for 720), and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (1,098 for 680). Overall, the university allocated 9,732 budget seats for Serbian students, with additional reserved quotas of 146 places each for candidates with disabilities and for members of the Roma minority.
