University of Concepción promotes agricultural resilience in Chile

The University of Concepción is leading initiatives to enhance agricultural resilience and sustainability in central-southern Chile through academic and technical collaboration.

In a recent seminar, the university's Faculty of Agronomy presented new technical publications designed to help fruit producers manage climate variability. These resources include manuals for cherry production under covers and guidance on managing European hazelnuts. The program, part of the Corfo-funded Southern Fruit Culture Center, aims to reduce crop vulnerability to adverse weather events.

Additionally, the university's Chillán Campus hosted industrial tomato producers from the Maule and Ñuble regions. This technical tour, part of the SUGAL Chile 2025 Sustainable Tomato Production project co-financed by CORFO Maule, focused on innovation, water efficiency, and sustainable practices. The initiative seeks to bridge the gap between academic research and the specific requirements of the agro-industrial sector.
