Agricultural resilience and training initiatives in Chile

Overview

In central-southern Chile, the University of Concepción has launched initiatives to improve agricultural sustainability and resilience against climate variability. Through the Corfo-funded Southern Fruit Culture Center, the university is providing technical resources, such as manuals for cherry and hazelnut production, to help fruit producers manage adverse weather. Additionally, technical tours for tomato producers have focused on water efficiency and sustainable practices.

In other regions, training efforts have expanded to address specific sector needs. In the O’Higgins Region, avocado producers received technical guidance from INDAP to manage orchard damage resulting from frost events. Meanwhile, in the Atacama Region, educational workshops were conducted for English teachers to focus on emotional wellbeing and stress management.
