University of Crete establishes new regional health clinics
The University of Crete is establishing two Special Regional Clinics at its campuses in Heraklion and Rethymno to enhance primary healthcare access for students, faculty, research staff, and employees.
The Heraklion clinic will operate as a decentralized unit of the Agia Varvara Health Center, while the Rethymno clinic will function as a decentralized unit of the Spili Health Center. The University of Crete will provide the necessary premises and equipment, as well as cover operational expenses.
Two physician positions will be announced, with one for each clinic, and salaries will be funded by the Ministry of Health. The 7th Health Region of Crete will cover the costs for medical supplies and consumables. This initiative follows cooperation between the University administration, the 7th Health Region, and various Greek ministries, including Health, Education, and Finance.
