University of Delhi reports 13,433 undergraduate seats vacant

The University of Delhi has announced that 13,433 undergraduate seats remain vacant following the completion of three regular admission rounds for the 2026-27 academic session. The university is now inviting students to apply for these remaining positions through a spot round via the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) portal.

The vacancies are distributed across 1,160 college-course combinations. High vacancy rates are noted in language and commerce programs, specifically B.A. (Hons.) Hindi with 1,455 seats, B.Com with 937 seats, and B.A. (Hons.) Sanskrit with 911 seats. Other notable vacancies include B.Sc. (Prog.) Physical Science with Chemistry and B.Sc. (Hons.) Mathematics.

By category, the unfilled seats include 4,133 for OBC-NCL, 2,476 for Scheduled Tribes, 2,113 for the unreserved category, 2,038 for Scheduled Castes, 1,791 for the Economically Weaker Section, 566 for Sikh minorities, and 316 for Christian minorities.

Vacancies persist even in prominent institutions. Hansraj College has 84 open seats, Hindu College has 29, and Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) has two unfilled seats in Economics. Other colleges with availability include Indraprastha College for Women, Gargi College, Sri Venkateswara College, and Ramjas College.
