University of Duisburg-Essen evacuated for bomb disposal in Essen

The University of Duisburg-Essen and surrounding areas in Essen's Nordviertel district are being evacuated for the disposal of a 500-kilogram British bomb. The bomb was located at Segerothstraße 73.

According to the City of Essen, all buildings within a 300-meter radius of the site will be evacuated until the operation is complete. Approximately 1,050 people are expected to be affected by the evacuation, which is scheduled to begin around 8:00 AM on Thursday.

A support center for evacuees has been established at the Weststadthalle on Thea-Leymann-Straße 23. Due to the logistical scale of the operation, authorities have advised commuters and drivers to avoid the area and expect disruptions to public transportation and road traffic.
