University of Georgia student survives eight-story fall
Kristin Sargent, a 21-year-old University of Georgia student, survived a fall from the eighth floor of an apartment building in Athens, Georgia. The incident occurred on Saturday, September 26, at The Rambler residential complex on West Broad Street.
According to police reports, Sargent was dancing on a couch or air mattress near an open window while celebrating a Georgia Bulldogs football victory. She reportedly fell through a window screen and plummeted to the building's second-floor courtyard, landing near the pool area. During her descent, she appears to have struck a metal bench, which sustained damage.
Sargent is currently in intensive care with several broken bones and serious injuries, but she is conscious and recovering. Her father, Richard Sargent, described her as a ‘fighter’ and expressed gratitude that she survived the accident. Local authorities have interviewed witnesses and indicated that the fall appears to have been accidental.
