University of Hyderabad student union elections see alliance lead

The University of Hyderabad Students’ Union elections saw a significant shift in leadership, with the AISA-ASA-DSU-SFI-TSF alliance leading in several key central-panel contests. Dilshada Raihan V. P., representing the SFI, secured the presidency with 1,674 votes, defeating ABVP-SLVD’s Naresh Podishetti, who received 1,298 votes.

Other notable results included Pratik of the ASA leading the general secretary race and Sidhant of AISA leading for joint secretary. The vice-president contest remained highly competitive, with reports showing extremely close margins between TSF’s Korra Nithin Chauhan and ABVP-SLVD’s Barsharani Behera. ABVP-SLVD maintained leads in the cultural secretary and sports secretary positions.

During the campaign, presidential candidate Dilshada Raihan V. P. focused on student welfare issues, including mess-fee hikes, menstrual leave, disability accessibility, and the implementation of transgender policies. This outcome marks a departure from the previous 2025-26 election cycle, where the ABVP-SLVD alliance won all six central-panel posts.
