University of Oulu study links coffee to higher testosterone in men

Researchers at the University of Oulu in Finland have identified statistical correlations between coffee consumption and certain hormonal and physical health markers in men. The study, published in the ‘European Journal of Nutrition’, re-evaluated data from a Finnish longitudinal study involving 2,264 participants who were 46 years old at the time of the 2012 data collection.

Findings indicate that men with higher coffee consumption tended to have higher average testosterone levels and other hormones associated with sexual function. Additionally, these individuals showed lower insulin levels, improved insulin sensitivity, lower body fat, less abdominal fat, and higher muscle mass. No significant differences were found regarding BMI.

While the results suggest a link between coffee and markers related to libido, researchers emphasized that the study shows statistical correlations rather than direct proof that coffee increases male libido.
