University of Pittsburgh football gears up for 2026 season at fall camp

The University of Pittsburgh Panthers began their 2026 fall camp, with head coach Pat Narduzzi outlining a competitive process that will determine the depth chart ahead of the season opener on Sept. 5 against Miami (Ohio). Narduzzi emphasized that early practices are “not football” but that upcoming jersey scrimmages will be a key indicator of player performance.

With several veteran starters having departed—linebacker Kyle Louis now with the Miami Dolphins and former leader Rasheem Biles transferring to Texas—the Panthers are evaluating returning players and newcomers, including transfer Malik Knight and freshmen hopefuls. Position coach Joe Bowen noted the depth at linebacker and the need for players to earn trust daily. The camp will continue to shape the roster as the team prepares for its first game of the season.
