University of Siena launches €12,000 scholarship for family‑violence victims and confirms reduced‑fare bus scheme for学生

The University of Siena announced a fully funded scholarship worth €12,000 per year for students who are victims of family violence. The award covers the entire study cycle, exempts tuition fees and is open to first‑year undergraduate or single‑cycle master students enrolling for the 2026/2027 academic year. Funding comes from the Ministry of University and Research and aims to reduce educational inequality for vulnerable learners.

Separately, the Siena municipal council approved a public‑transport concession for university students running from 1 August 2026 to 31 July 2027. The agreement, involving the university, the University for Foreigners of Siena, ARDSU, the regional transport company and Autolinee Toscane, sets an annual urban pass price at €120 for students up to 26 years old and €170 for older students. The measure is presented as support for the right to study and a step toward more sustainable urban mobility.
