University of São Paulo ranks among top 150 global universities

The University of São Paulo (USP) has maintained its position among the top 150 universities globally for the eighth consecutive year, according to the Shanghai Ranking. This achievement marks the highest ranking for any institution in Brazil and Latin America.

While the overall global position is notable, USP shows particular strength in specific academic disciplines. The university ranks 6th globally in Dentistry and Oral Sciences, 9th in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, and 12th in Agricultural Sciences. Other high-performing areas include Ecology (20th) and Textile Science and Engineering (33rd).

The ranking criteria include Nobel Prizes and medals won by alumni and faculty, highly cited researchers, publications in journals such as Nature and Science, and academic performance per capita. Other Brazilian institutions mentioned in the rankings include Unesp, Unicamp, UFMG, UFRJ, and UFRGS.
