Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas expands admissions testing, transparency pact and budget reforms
On June 25, the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT) administered the EXANI‑II CENEVAL exam for prospective students across its northern, central and southern campuses, overseen by CENEVAL staff and human‑rights representatives to ensure transparency. The university offered 89 face‑to‑face and six online programmes for the 2026‑2027 cycle, aiming to increase enrolment among its roughly 42 000 students.
UAT rector Dámaso Anaya Alvarado participated in a working group convened by the Auditoría Superior de la Federación (ASF) in Mexico City, reaffirming the university’s commitment to strengthen transparency and accountability. The meeting, attended by ANUIES and representatives of thirty state public universities, produced a joint agreement to improve public‑resource management, provide audit training for students and combat corruption.
Anaya also highlighted UAT’s efficient budget management, citing recent investments in gyms, language centres, sports complexes and other facilities, and stressing continued support for faculty, staff and students. He linked the university’s financial health to its capacity to expand services and sustain growth amid rising enrolment.
Finally, UAT announced a new partnership to place its nursing graduates in hospitals in Texas, creating professional opportunities for its alumni abroad.
