University of Tartu and Tartu Marathon partner to promote physical activity

The University of Tartu and the Tartu Marathon NGO have signed a cooperation agreement to promote physical activity and wellbeing among the university community. Under this partnership, students and staff will receive discounted registration for all Tartu Marathon events.

The initiative is part of the university’s ‘University of Tartu Moves’ program, which aims to support the physical and mental health of its more than 19,000 members while fostering a sense of community. The agreement was signed on August 13 by University Rector Toomas Asser and Tartu Marathon CEO Indrek Kelk.

In addition to discounts, the university is launching a role model program. Selected members who inspire others to stay active will receive support, including sports apparel featuring university logos, free event entries, and access to personal training schedules and consultations. The marathon series includes various disciplines such as skiing, cycling, and running.
