University of Évora opens migrant integration center

The University of Évora and the Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum (AIMA) have launched a Local Center for the Support of Migrant Integration (CLAIM). Located in the Santo Agostinho Building, the office is designed to assist with the regularization and documentation processes for international students, professors, researchers, and staff.

The initiative aims to streamline administrative procedures for the university's growing multicultural community, which includes approximately 650 international students—about 600 of whom are from outside the European Union—as well as academic staff from over 80 countries.

University Rector António Candeias stated that university employees have received specific training to use AIMA's software, allowing processes to be initiated directly on campus. While documentation is handled at the university, biometric data collection will continue to be conducted at AIMA facilities in Lisbon.
