University of Zagreb Faculty bans ‘Meet the Communist’ event
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FFZG) at the University of Zagreb has canceled the ‘Meet the Communist’ program following a meeting between faculty management and the Faculty Students' Club (KSFF).
According to the KSFF, the faculty administration expressed concerns that the involvement of the Revolutionary Communist League (RKS) would violate the university's principles of political neutrality. While the administration reportedly stated that the event itself was not problematic, they rejected a proposal to hold the program organized solely by the KSFF. The administration cited security risks, noting that students could face physical attacks and subsequent responsibility.
The KSFF has criticized the decision, questioning whether the administration is yielding to political pressure from external actors at the expense of academic discussion and student safety. The students also requested that the administration condemn previous interventions by members of the Homeland Movement Youth and Josip Dabra, but this request was denied.
