University students visit juvenile reintegration centers in Mexico and Chile

Students from the IDEP university visited the Centro de Reinserción Social in Ciudad Valles, San Luis Potosí, Mexico. The tour included dialogue with prison staff, inmates and officials, highlighting the state’s programs for legal culture, drug prevention and social reintegration supported by Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona.

In Antofagasta, Chile, social work and psychology students from the Universidad de Antofagasta attended a conference organized by the Servicio Nacional de Reinserción Social Juvenil. Speakers discussed the challenges of juvenile justice and reintegrating young offenders, and the event aimed to strengthen academic‑service collaboration through future agreements.

Both visits sought to raise awareness of juvenile reintegration, foster research partnerships and encourage student involvement in community safety initiatives.
