Uniworld and Tauck announce major river cruise fleet expansions

Luxury river cruise operators Uniworld and Tauck have announced significant fleet expansions and new vessel launches scheduled between 2027 and 2028.

Uniworld will launch the SS Marlene in 2027, a Super Ship featuring an Art Deco design inspired by actress and singer Marlene Dietrich. Designed by Liane van Leeuwen, the vessel will operate in Central Europe and incorporate thematic elements such as film posters, vintage records, and stylized geometric motifs to create a museum-like atmosphere.

Tauck is implementing a multi-phase investment to introduce five new river ships between 2026 and 2028. Following the debuts of the MS Lumière and MS Serene, the company will add the MS Reverie and MS Saudade in 2027, followed by the MS Harmonie in 2028. This expansion is expected to increase Tauck’s river cruise capacity by more than 50% by 2028, including new six-day cruise formats and additional destinations.
