UNLP and Buenos Aires province partner for social food production
The National University of La Plata (UNLP) and the Ministry of Community Development have begun cooperating to produce social food for the province of Buenos Aires. UNLP President Fernando Tauber met with Minister Andrés Larroque to integrate the university's productive capacity into provincial social policies.
The initiative focuses on utilizing the Food Plant for Social Integration (PAIS), a facility designed to serve vulnerable sectors of society. The plant has a production capacity of up to 150,000 rations per day using domestic industrial equipment.
The production process involves two main stages: dehydrating up to three tons of fresh vegetables daily to preserve nutritional value, followed by mixing and packaging products such as rice and vegetable stew, lentil stew, or fruit salad.
