Upper Austria polling shows FPÖ leading ahead of 2027 elections
Recent polling data for the 2027 Upper Austrian state elections indicates a significant shift in the political landscape. According to a Spectra survey, the FPÖ is currently leading with 32 percent, while the SPÖ is competing for the top position with 26 percent.
This trend poses a challenge to the ÖVP, which has held the governorship since 1945. Analysts suggest that the ÖVP may need to undergo significant reinvention or personnel changes to address these declining numbers. The survey also highlights a tightening race in Linz, where the SPÖ and FPÖ are now positioned within a similar range of 25 to 30 percent, compared to the 2021 results where the SPÖ held a much larger lead.
