UPPSC Announces GIC Lecturer Prelims Results, 2,733 Candidates Advance

The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) released the provisional result of the Government Inter College (GIC) Lecturer preliminary examination. For the geography and sociology subjects, 2,733 candidates—1,927 in geography and 806 in sociology—have been shortlisted for the forthcoming mains exam.

The prelims were held in June 2026, and the mains are scheduled for 30 August 2026. UPPSC has advertised 1,516 lecturer posts (777 for male lecturers, 694 for female lecturers, and additional positions for visually‑impaired candidates). Approximately 31,116 applicants registered for sociology and 23,951 for geography, with 9,430 and 11,378 candidates respectively appearing for the prelims.

Shortlisted candidates will receive online invitations to apply for the mains, and detailed cut‑off marks and further instructions will be posted on the commission’s website after the final selection results are declared.
