UPSC reschedules Principal and Vice-Principal recruitment exam to January 2027
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has rescheduled the Common Recruitment Test (CRT) for Principal and Vice-Principal positions within the Education Department of the Government of NCT of Delhi. The examination, originally slated for December 1, 2026, will now take place on January 9, 2027, during the forenoon session from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM.
The postponement follows a request from the Government School Teachers Association (GSTA), Delhi. The association noted that many eligible candidates, who are currently serving as teachers and administrators, faced heavy workloads due to professional duties and assignments as Booth Level Officers (BLOs) during the Special Intensive Revision exercise. The GSTA requested the deferral to allow candidates sufficient time to prepare for the competitive exam.
The recruitment drive involves 828 total vacancies, consisting of 124 posts for Principal and 704 posts for Vice-Principal. The exam will be conducted across fifteen centers, including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad.
