Ural Ro-Ro ship attacked near Novorossiysk; Turkish chef killed

A Turkish chef, İlker Lazoğlu, has died following a drone attack on the Ural Ro-Ro ship near Novorossiysk in the Black Sea. The Ural was engaged in a rescue operation, having just evacuated 18 sailors from the cargo ship Necibe, which had also been targeted by a drone strike.

During the attack on the Ural, Lazoğlu, a 47-year-old chef, was critically injured. Eight other crew members were also wounded in the incident. The Ural ship eventually reached Samsun Port in Turkey, carrying both the deceased and the injured.

Family members reported that Lazoğlu had contacted them during the initial attack on the Necibe, stating he was safe and awaiting rescue. Following the second strike on the Ural, the Samsun Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the incident.
