Urban design awards in Slavonski Brod and Belgrade competition results

In Croatia, the Tourist Board of Slavonski Brod - Posavina held an awards ceremony to recognize the most beautifully maintained yards, balconies, windows, and hospitality establishments in Slavonski Brod and the municipalities of Gornja Vrba, Podcrkavlje, and Bukovlje. Winners included Barbara Miletić for the best front yard in Slavonski Brod and Olifera Maglić for the best balcony. In the hospitality category, De Croy bar at Hotel Park, Pizzeria Eden, and La Vie were among the award recipients.

In Serbia, the Russian architectural firm Jauza project won the first prize of 40,000 euros in an international competition to redesign part of Savski trg in Belgrade. The competition was organized by the Urbanistički zavod Beograda for the developer Beograd na vodi. Architect Marko Jakšić criticized the results, suggesting the low turnout of only nine proposals indicates a boycott by the professional community. Jakšić argued that the development project is seizing vital urban space from the city.
