Urban development and waste management issues in Banja Luka

Banja Luka is facing challenges with illegal waste disposal, as old furniture and household appliances are increasingly being left near containers. Despite the availability of a recycling yard in Malta and professional removal services, residents continue to create makeshift dumps in residential areas, leading to hygiene concerns and pest issues.

Simultaneously, a new regulatory plan for the Rosulje neighborhood proposes significant urban changes. The draft plan, currently open for public inspection, outlines the demolition of existing family houses and a local bakery to make way for a large residential building. The proposed structure would cover approximately 6,977 square meters, featuring 80 apartments and commercial spaces, representing a sevenfold increase in built-up area for the site.
