Urban development projects progress in Ulm and face opposition in Berlin

In Berlin, the Verein Karlshorst e. V. has filed objections against the draft development plan 11-178 for the Karlshorst harness racing track. The association argues that the plan, which proposes between 656 and 736 apartments alongside commercial and service spaces, threatens a historical monument and a vital recreational area. The group claims the plan prioritizes construction over the preservation of horse sports, riding therapy, and local culture, and warns that the conflict between new residential areas and existing equestrian activities is structurally unresolvable.

In Ulm, a contract has been signed for the Mitte-West section of the Blau. Quartier development project on Blaubeurer Straße. This 4.7-hectare phase is planned to include approximately 900 residential units, with 40 percent designated as subsidized housing. The development will also feature service and commercial spaces, gastronomy, a hotel, and a daycare center. The project is divided into eleven individual building plots to encourage architectural diversity and participation from regional developers.
