Uri National Highway to close October 4 and 11 for maintenance

The Uri National Highway in Jammu and Kashmir will undergo temporary closures on October 4 and October 11 to facilitate hill-cutting work. The maintenance is being conducted by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) through the 53 Road Construction Company (RCC) of the General Reserve Engineer Force (GREF).

Uri Sub-Divisional Magistrate Prince Kumar issued the order, which specifies that the closures will occur on two Sundays. To minimize disruption, the executing agency is prohibited from performing hill-cutting work on government working days between 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., and between 3:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. During these windows, the highway must remain open for vehicular movement.

Commuters and transport operators are advised to use the Bandi–Paranpillan–Dachi route as an alternative during the scheduled closures. The BRO has been instructed to implement all necessary safety measures to protect road users while the work is carried out under Project BEACON.
