Uruguay launches incentive fund to boost air connectivity

Uruguay has implemented a new strategy to improve its international air connectivity by incentivizing airlines to increase tourist arrivals and develop new international routes. Under Decree 219/026, the Ministry of Tourism and Aeropuertos Uruguay have established a joint fund of up to US$ 2.5 million annually.

The fund is specifically designed to encourage companies to expand their operations into the country, recognizing the intense international competition for airline resources and flight paths. The initiative aims to drive tourism, investment, and business opportunities by distributing visitors more effectively across the national territory.
