Uruguay livestock auctions see high sales volumes at Expo Rural
Major livestock auctions held at the Expo Rural del Prado in Uruguay achieved high sales volumes despite market price adjustments.
Lote 21 celebrated its 21st commercial anniversary with a three-day auction, selling 99% of its offerings. The event included 15,700 cattle and 1,700 sheep. While there was a general adjustment in prices for slaughter cattle, organizers noted sustained interest across most categories, particularly for younger livestock.
Simultaneously, the Plaza Rural and Plaza Angus auction concluded with the sale of 14,738 cattle (97.87% of the supply) and 699 sheep (100% of the supply). Although prices adjusted downward in most categories following market trends, the placement rate remained high. Specific sales included various categories of calves, steers, and winter cows, with prices for calves under 140 kg averaging US$ 5.12 per unit.
