South American livestock markets show strong auction activity

Livestock markets across Uruguay, Paraguay, and Bolivia are showing significant activity through various auctions and genetic sales.

In Uruguay, Pantalla Uruguay celebrated its 25th anniversary with an auction involving approximately 12,000 cattle and 500 sheep. While some categories saw price adjustments, the event highlighted the evolution of digital commercialization tools. Other Uruguayan auctions, such as those by Cabaña La Empastada and Cabaña Caliverde, reported successful sales of Red Angus and Aberdeen Angus bulls, with La Empastada averaging USD 4,207 per bull.

In Paraguay, the ‘Los Magníficos’ auction demonstrated strong demand for reproductive bulls, selling 456 animals at an average price exceeding Gs. 20.6 million. The Nelore breed achieved the highest average, reflecting a high need for breeders in the region.

In Bolivia, Cabaña Esterlina reported record-breaking results, doubling its sales from the previous year. The auction featured high-level genetics, including the sale of a pregnancy that set a significant milestone, with over 30% of major lots purchased by Brazilian ranchers.
