Uruguay's National Drug Board approves new integrated treatment system

The National Drug Board (JND) of Uruguay has approved the creation of the Integral System for Drug Care and Treatment. This initiative aims to strengthen responses to problematic substance use and improve access to care throughout the country.

Key developments include the planned opening of the Lindolfo Center in Ciudad Vieja, which will provide care alongside sports and cultural activities. The JND also intends to establish co-responsibility agreements with faith communities to enhance decentralized prevention and support. Additionally, a new mobile application is being developed in partnership with Antel to provide information and guidance to users, families, and professionals.

During the session, Aldo Tomassini was officially designated as the new Secretary General of the National Drug Secretariat, following a tribute to the late Gabriel Rossi.
