US adults prioritize fintech development over crypto assets
An Ipsos survey of 1,545 US adults reveals that 35% of respondents consider the promotion of next-generation financial technology development to be very or extremely important. When including those who view it as somewhat important, the total support for such policies reaches 72%.
However, specific interest in blockchain, cryptocurrency, and decentralized finance (DeFi) is significantly lower. Only 13% of respondents rated the promotion of these specific sectors as very or extremely important, while 53% stated they were not important at all. The survey also noted low familiarity with digital assets, with only 9% reporting being very or extremely familiar with cryptocurrency and 5% with stablecoins. Additionally, 87% of respondents reported they have not owned or used cryptocurrency in the last 12 months.
Regarding the broader financial system, 19% of participants believe the current US financial system is safe. A majority of 63% suggested that the system needs improvements to address new threats such as cybercrime and artificial intelligence.
