U.S. Air Force awards Boeing $2.38B F-15EX contract
The U.S. Air Force has awarded Boeing a $2.38 billion contract to produce 22 F-15EX Eagle II fighters under Lot 7. The deal, finalized using congressional reconciliation funds before the fiscal year-end, aims to sustain production despite inflation and projected 2025 production disruptions. Boeing is currently working to increase output to two aircraft per month.
In a separate developmental move, the Air Force is seeking a new missile launch and approach warning system for the F-15EX. This upgrade is intended to provide an additional layer of protection as the aircraft moves toward permanent operational deployment in the Indo-Pacific. To ensure rapid integration and minimize structural changes, the service plans to utilize six existing sensor positions and current wiring, power, and cooling connections already provisioned on the fighter.
