US missile strike damages Iranshahr airport in southeastern Iran

The United States launched a missile attack on Iranshahr airport in Iran's Sistan‑Baluchestan province, striking the airfield in the early hours of Friday. The strike injured at least one civilian and caused damage to the airport’s electrical facilities and a fuel tank, leading to a local power outage.

Iranian state media said the attack was part of a broader wave of U.S. operations across the south of the country, with bridges near Bandar Khamir and sites in Bandar Abbas, Bushehr, Qeshm Island, Sirik and Ahvaz also reported hit. The incident comes after heightened tensions that began in February when the United States and Israel conducted joint offensives against Iranian targets, prompting Tehran to fire missiles and drones at Gulf‑state sites. Although the two nations signed a Pakistan‑mediated memorandum of understanding last month to pursue a long‑term peace, recent disputes over the Strait of Hormuz have reignited hostilities.
