Germany and U.S. sign defense pact to boost NATO production
Germany and the United States have signed a Statement of Intent to deepen defense industry cooperation and bolster NATO's military capabilities. German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius and U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth met at the Pentagon to formalize a framework for joint technology development, production, and licensed manufacturing of advanced weaponry, ammunition, and equipment.

A key component allows for shifting production to Germany if U.S. manufacturing capacities are insufficient. The partnership also focuses on expanding maintenance and repair capabilities for military hardware.

The cooperation comes amid heightened global security concerns and the need to replenish depleted missile and ammunition stocks within the alliance.
