US and Pakistan sign five-year educational exchange agreement
The United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) and Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission (HEC) have signed a five-year agreement to expand educational exchange programs. The deal, signed in Islamabad by USEFP Executive Director Dr. Peter Moran and HEC Executive Director Professor Dr. Zia Ul Haq, will strengthen cooperation in higher education, including the Fulbright scholarship program.
The partnership aims to facilitate academic exchanges, research, and professional development in sectors linked to science, technology, security, and economic growth. Under the agreement, Pakistani students and scholars will gain access to U.S. universities, while American participants will engage in research, business, and public health projects within Pakistan.
This agreement builds on 75 years of educational cooperation between the two nations. Since 1950, USEFP has managed programs that have included more than 9,000 Pakistanis and nearly 1,000 Americans.
