Trump admin bans visas for foreign leftist extremist supporters

The Trump administration announced a new visa restriction that bars foreign nationals who have supported, financed, recruited for, or otherwise assisted left‑wing extremist groups identified by the United States. The measure is authorized under the Immigration and Nationality Act, section 212(a)(3)(C).

State Secretary Marco Rubio presented the policy while convening a ministerial meeting of representatives from more than 60 countries to coordinate a response to the perceived resurgence of political terrorism. Rubio said the step is intended to protect U.S. security by cutting off funding and logistical networks of extremist organizations.

White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller referenced National Security Presidential Memorandum‑7, which directs U.S. law‑enforcement and intelligence agencies to work together against such threats. Treasury Secretary Scott Besen stated that financial sanctions and anti‑money‑laundering tools will also be employed. The administration offered rewards of up to $10 million for information leading to the disruption of the targeted groups, noting that four such groups have already been designated as foreign terrorist organizations.
