U.S. Army awards GM Defense $698M contract and evaluates BAE Systems armored vehicles

The U.S. Army has awarded GM Defense a $698 million contract modification for the Infantry Squad Vehicle-Utility (ISV-U). This brings the total contract value to $916 million. The modification focuses on engineering changes for the ISV-U, a tactical truck based on the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2, including the addition of a winch kit, windshield, heater, defrost system, and options for a full crew enclosure kit. These updates were informed by soldier feedback to improve mobility and payload capacity for brigade combat teams.

Separately, BAE Systems has delivered two 30mm Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle (AMPV) prototypes to a U.S. Army unit for operational evaluation. Developed using $17 million in internal funding, these vehicles feature a Kongsberg Medium Caliber Turret and integrated counter-unmanned aircraft system capabilities to address drone threats. The AMPV 30 configuration also includes a cross-platform target handoff system and 360-degree camera systems to enhance situational awareness and connectivity on the modern battlefield.
