Overview

The U.S. Army has engaged in significant procurement and evaluation of armored and tactical vehicles. On September 20, 2026, the Army awarded BAE Systems Land & Armaments an $818 million contract for Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicles (AMPV), intended to replace the M113 fleet. Additionally, BAE Systems delivered two 30mm AMPV prototypes for operational evaluation. These prototypes, developed with internal funding, feature Kongsberg Medium Caliber Turrets, integrated counter-unmanned aircraft system capabilities, and enhanced situational awareness tools like 360-degree camera systems.
