US Business Leaders Applaud Closure of Adani Group DOJ Probe
Indian‑American business leaders and policy experts said the U.S. Justice Department’s decision to close its investigation of the Adani Group was warranted because the case lacked concrete evidence and fell outside American jurisdiction.
Mukesh Aghi, president and CEO of the US‑India Strategic Partnership Forum, stated, “When you look at the case, it was completely out of the jurisdiction of the US law,” and added that no U.S. investors had suffered losses. He argued the resolution will strengthen India‑US economic ties and improve access to international capital markets for Indian firms.
Ajay Jain Bhutoria, a former advisor in the Biden administration, echoed that prosecutors could not sustain the allegations. He highlighted Adani’s planned $10 billion investment in the United States as a counterpoint to narratives that Indian companies take American jobs, saying the investment could become a major driver of U.S. growth.
