U.S. CENTCOM launches ceasefire monitoring mechanism in Lebanon

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has established a real‑time monitoring mechanism to track the ceasefire and conflict situation on the Lebanon‑Israel border. An unnamed U.S. official told the Anadolu Agency that the mechanism aims to "bring an end to the violence" and will allow simultaneous observation of developments on the ground.

The step follows phone calls by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, and is intended to support the two sovereign states in their negotiations toward a comprehensive peace and security agreement. Details of the mechanism will be released publicly at a later date.
