US citizen arrested in Bogotá for child abuse and Colombian activist detained by ICE

Colombian authorities captured a United States citizen accused of sexually abusing a child on a balcony in northern Bogotá after a by‑stander recorded the incident and alerted police. The suspect was placed in the custody of the Fiscalía General de la Nación and the U.S. consulate was notified.

Separately, Colombian activist Beto Coral was taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Phoenix, Arizona. Coral, who has been outspoken against right‑wing candidate Abelardo de la Espriña, was detained pending an asylum hearing and possible deportation. He recorded a video message to his son before being transferred to an ICE facility.
