US Citizen Arrested in Medellín for Offering Money to Underage Girls

Police of Infancy and Adolescence detained a 45‑year‑old American man in the Parque Lleras area of Medellín’s El Poblado district after a citizen reported his presence with several young women. Officers verified identities and confirmed that three adolescents – a 16‑year‑old and two 15‑year‑olds – were present. The investigation revealed the suspect had offered up to 400,000 pesos for sexual relations with the 16‑year‑old. The teenagers were transferred to the Family Police, the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare and received medical examinations. The suspect was placed under the custody of the Fiscalía General de la Nación for prosecution. Medellín’s mayor, Federico Gutiérrez, emphasized the city’s stance against foreign offenders, noting that 34 foreign nationals have been captured in Medellín for child‑exploitation offenses between 2024 and 2026.
