US Congressional delegation visits Romania to discuss Black Sea security
A United States Congressional delegation, led by House Armed Services Committee Chairman Mike Rogers, conducted a visit to Romania to discuss regional security and the strategic importance of the Black Sea region.
During the visit, Romanian Defence Minister Radu Miruta accompanied the delegation to the Borcea Air Base. The visit highlighted the base's role in training Romanian and Ukrainian pilots to operate F-16 aircraft and its contribution to strengthening Romania's air defence and NATO's Eastern Flank. Minister Miruta emphasized that the US presence is an “essential component of the allied deterrence and defence posture.”
Additionally, Romanian Interior Minister Catalin Predoiu met with Rogers to discuss deepening bilateral cooperation in internal affairs and strengthening the Romania-US Strategic Partnership. Discussions focused on ensuring long-term stability in the Black Sea and the link between security and economic prosperity, noting that a stable environment is necessary for investment and development.
