CPSC recalls 15,000 squishy toys over water bead hazard

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced a recall for more than 15,000 squishy dumpling toys due to a dangerous water bead hazard. The recall affects two primary product lines: approximately 8,000 Squeezy Dumplings manufactured by GIHNJSI and roughly 7,200 Rainbow Mystery Squishy Bun Toys from OKK Trading.

The toys contain absorbent polymer water beads that can expand significantly if swallowed. This poses severe health risks to children, including choking, vomiting, dehydration, and intestinal blockages, which can be fatal in extreme cases. The CPSC noted that the products violate federal safety standards because the beads can expand beyond permitted sizes.

Squeezy Dumplings were sold on Amazon between May and June 2026, while Rainbow Mystery Squishy Bun Toys were sold through various third-party retailers from May through August 2026. While no injuries have been reported, officials urge parents to stop using the toys immediately. Consumers are advised to mark the items with ‘RECALLED’ in permanent marker before disposal to facilitate refund processes.
