US Corn Futures Slip Ahead of Juneteenth Holiday Amid Mixed Export Data
Corn futures fell 5‑6.5 cents across front‑month contracts on Thursday, with the cash corn price dropping to $3.845 per bushel as traders adjusted before the market closed for the Juneteenth holiday.
The USDA reported a private export sale of 285,775 metric tons to Mexico and weekly export sales of 1.157 million metric tons for the 2025/26 marketing year, a four‑week high and 28% above the same week a year earlier. Total new‑crop commitments rose 41.2% year‑over‑year to 4.643 MMT, signaling strong forward buying interest.
NOAA forecasts heavy precipitation across the Western Corn Belt, which could affect crop development. The June 18 cash bid close listed June 2026 corn at $4.07 per bushel, with July‑December 2026 contracts ranging from $4.00 to $4.26 per bushel.
