U.S. deploys third aircraft carrier and 10,000 troops to Middle East

The United States is deploying a third aircraft carrier strike group and approximately 9,000 to 10,000 additional troops to the Middle East. This military buildup comes as President Donald Trump weighs the possibility of resuming airstrikes against Iran.

The USS Theodore Roosevelt has departed San Diego, and the USS Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group has also begun its deployment. These assets, along with jet fighters, Marines, and sailors, are expected to arrive in the region by the end of November. If the USS George Washington remains in the area, the U.S. will have three carrier strike groups in the region for the first time since April.

The escalation follows the collapse of a fragile ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran. Additionally, President Trump suggested that early indications may link Iran to a co-pilot involved in a recent attack on an Israel-bound flight, warning that the U.S. would retaliate if such a connection is established.
